As a kid, Kerri Medlin remembers her dad telling her, "Today is the first day of the rest of your life... it's like a mound of clay that you can mold any way want," while he drove her to school each morning in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Today, she still loves the cheeseburgers at CJs Coffee Shop in the village and has acquired her own favorite quote: "What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?"
When she's not listening to classic rock or watching the Yankees or the Jets, Kerri increases support and awareness about the importance of children's early years at EYI, particularly through The Early Years Matter Campaign and several other programs. An avid reader (favorite book: Beach Music) with a talent for drawing, Kerri also leads a class of children with social difficulties for Variety Child Learning Center in Syosset, N.Y., facilitating interactions through play and modeling.
Previously Kerri has worked in clinical settings providing play therapy in a day treatment program for young children, outpatient therapy for young children, teens, and families; as well as observations, psychotherapy, and work with CPSE and CSE in a school district. She holds a B.A. in Psychology with minor in Sociology from Stonehill College and is a Licensed Master Social Worker through Adelphi University. Kerri has been trained in the Raising a Thinking Child and Bright Beginnings parent training curricula, and received an Advanced Certificate in Parent Education from Adelphi.
And while she likes to travel and get away from it all, Kerri truly loves coming home to the four generations of her family who live on the same block... so much that she and her husband have bought a home just a couple of blocks away.
