The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah is a story about the daughter of a drug dealer who grows up in luxury, only to lose it all and face a hard life on the streets. It's Tasha Bovain's favorite book, because of its inspirational message: it's not important where you came from, but how you've grown by your experiences along the way. Today, Tasha contributes to the mission of The Early Years Institute by ensuring that the organization's many constituents are reached in a variety of helpful ways.
Tasha is a writer by profession, and as a consultant has provided copywriting and marketing services to clients and ran SingleandFab.com as Publisher and Editor-in-Chief. Earlier in her career she was a legal writer for Binder and Binder, and worked for Berkelycare Travel Insurance and Fox Network affiliate WXXA. She has a bachelor's degree in Communications from State University at Albany and has completed coursework at Long Island University and York College.
A Queens native and Westbury, N.Y. resident, Tasha loves yoga, listening to gospel and neo-soul music, blogging and short stories. Her favorite movie is "The Joy Luck Club" and she enjoys watching "Leading Women" on TV.
"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." It's a quote from Anais Nin and it's another meaningful literary expression full of meaning to Tasha.
