Pre-K Leadership Forum

The Early Years Institute, in partnership with Eastern Suffolk BOCES, Western Suffolk BOCES and Nassau BOCES, created the Pre-K Leadership Forum in 2008, chaired by New York State Regent Roger Tilles. The goals of the Forum are:

  • To improve the way that Pre-K is funded and implemented in New York State
  • To assure excellence in Pre-K programs on LI
  • To create a regional forum in which a diverse group of educators can exchange views and collaborate on Pre-K initiatives

The Forum members include school superintendents, deans of colleges of education, foundations and early childhood leadership from community organizations that are working on two subcommittees focused on legislation and quality assurance. Their work is communicated to policymakers, other school personnel and community leaders to increase the supply of Pre-K services and improve program excellence. Forum members share information to ensure that all members are educated about local programs, the latest research and legislative efforts affecting Pre-K.

The primary activity of the Forum is to help implement the recommendations from EYI’s two-year study of Pre-K on Long Island. Click here to learn more.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
